Terms you will see in the app

Sound. An audio file, streamed or downloaded. Rain, a fireplace, a sound bath, ambient music.

Frequency. A tone measured in hertz, generated live on your device. This is what vibrates the headphones.

Hertz (Hz). Cycles per second. 100 Hz means 100 vibrations per second.

Bone conduction. Sound delivered as vibration through the bones of your skull to your inner ear, bypassing the eardrum.

Transducer. The part of the headphone that rests on your cheekbone and vibrates.

Binaural beats. Two slightly different tones, one per ear. Your brain perceives a third tone at the difference between them.

Frequency following effect. Your brainwaves shifting to match the difference between the two tones you are hearing.

Entrainment. The process of your brain synchronizing to an external rhythm.

Brainwave state. The speed your neurons are firing at, grouped into named ranges: delta, theta, alpha, beta, gamma.

Delta. Roughly 0.5 to 4 Hz. Deep sleep and recovery.

Theta. Roughly 4 to 8 Hz. Drowsiness, deep meditation, creative drift.

Alpha. Roughly 8 to 12 Hz. Calm alertness.

Beta. Roughly 12 to 30 Hz. Active thinking.

Gamma. Roughly 30 to 100 Hz. Peak cognition and flow.

Solfeggio. A set of nine tones from historical sound healing traditions, including 528 Hz.

Pure tone. One frequency playing in both ears at the same value, rather than two different tones.

Rife library. A catalog of frequency pairs drawn from Royal Rife's research, organized by category name.

Gateway Experience. A structured series of frequency levels included in the Frequency Library.

Mixer. The control for layering multiple sounds with individual volume.

Overlay. Playing a sound on top of a running frequency, or a frequency under a sound.

Modulation. Frequencies moving up and down instead of holding steady. Toggled with the brain icon.

Septa Sync. A separately purchased playlist of seven frequencies, $39, currently in a research study with MIT.

Batch. A production run of headphones arriving from the manufacturer. Orders are filled against batches in the order they were placed.

Queue position. Where your order sits in line against every other unshipped order, oldest first. It drives your ship date.

In transit. Your package is with the carrier. From this point the tracker shows live carrier data rather than an estimate.
