How bone conduction works
Standard headphones push air into your ear canal. Your eardrum vibrates, and that vibration travels through three small bones to your inner ear.
Bone conduction skips the first half of that. The transducers rest against your cheekbones and vibrate the bone directly. The vibration travels through your skull to your inner ear, and your brain receives it as sound.
Two things follow from that.
Your ear canals stay open. You hear the room, your surroundings, and anyone talking to you. If you want full immersion instead, use the noise isolation earplugs included with the headphones.
You feel the frequency physically. Lower frequencies produce stronger, more obvious vibration against the skin and bone. Higher frequencies carry more clarity and vibrate less noticeably. A 40 Hz gamma tone feels different on your face than a 528 Hz Solfeggio tone, and both are working.
